“To save water is to save our home.”
To save water is to save our home. Access to clean drinking water is an essential part of the world we want to live in. However, many countries around the world are facing severe water shortages, and some are struggling to make progress even with sewage infrastructure. How can we commit to a sustainable supply of safe water? In the activity shaping the future together, the students of G3, BLG3, BLG4 and KG2B not only have a better understanding of the current situation of water resources, but also realize that as global citizens, they have the responsibility to jointly create a better future.
"Petals are my slide, green leaves are my trampoline, I keep on going......" In the Chinese class, teacher Lynn and the children read the picture book "The Happy Journey of Little Water Drop" . The mundane little water drop is one of the conditions necessary to support the prosperity and diversity of life systems on Earth. Without water, there would be no life. Umbrellas, paints, clay, buttons, plastic water bottles...... The children skillfully made Little Water drop's home.
Do you know? More than 2 billion people are currently at risk of decreasing available freshwater resources, and by 2050, at least one in four people could live in countries affected by periodic or recurrent freshwater shortages. World Water Day is on March 22 every year. In the art class, the third and fourth grade children have picked up the paintbrush and created a water-saving sign, calling on everyone to establish a correct sense of water use, improve the use of water resources, and work together to protect our "water" resources.
“......”
According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), nearly 30% of the world's population still does not have access to safe and clean water resources, and as many as 850 million people do not have access to even the minimum amount of water needed for daily life. Among them, the construction of sewage treatment and sanitation facilities is more serious, and more than 4.2 billion people are affected by it. In fact, the report shows that 80 percent of sewage is not adequately treated and is recycled as tap water.
In science class, the third grade children also have a deeper understanding of cherishing water resources through water purification experiments.
